Where did the name "Jesus" come from anyway? In the Old Testament, "Y'shua" is translated Joshua. He led Israel out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land. In the New Testament "Y'shua" is translated "Jesus." He led the world out of bondage to sin. In Hebrew, Y'shua means "Salvation." Jesus was just a baby when he was first recognized as Messiah (God's anointed king). "Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying...my eyes have seen your salvation." Luke 2:28-30 Indeed his eyes saw God's "Y'shua", a mighty warrior, the prince of peace, who leads his people toward the Promised Land. He is coming soon.
"Baptized In the Name of Jesus Christ" What is the difference between a Christ and a Messiah? There is no difference at all! The Hebrew word "Messiah" means "anointed" and the Greek word "Christ" means "anointed." Did you know that when you are baptized into the name of Jesus Christ you are immersed, literally speaking, into God's "salvation anointing."
In the Picture below you can see the Dome of the Rock on the far left. The tower at the top left sits on the top of the Mount of Olives and is the traditional spot where Jesus ascended to heaven. The Dome of the Spirits (the probable site of the Holy of Holies) the Mercy Gate (now blocked by the Muslims to prevent the entry of any rogue Messiah) and the church tower on the Mount of Olives form a direct line of site. Sort of interesting. This picture I took from the top of the "Tower of David" (an old fort for Herods palace) looking East across the old city toward the Mount of Olives. Zechariah 14:3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him. John 21:10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
